The state MENA news agency reports that an African delegation headed by former Malian President Alfa Omar Konari has held a one-hour meeting with deposed President Mohamed Morsi. The agency gave no details on the visit nor when it took place but said some of the delegation's members will host a news conference later on Wednesday after meeting with Arab League
officials to discuss the latest developments in Egypt.
Al Jazeera's D. Parvaz has been speaking with Cairo residents today about the security situation in the city in the wake of two massacres that left over 100 dead.
As she was interviewing a store owner in the city on these issues, she reports, he pulled out a gun and proceeded to wave it around as he spoke.
"Oh don't worry, I have a permit," he said, noting her alarm. He then showed her the document.
When she remarked that many people had been accidentally shot by legally owned handguns, he shrugged.
"I had to buy it after the revolution for safety. Never needed one under Mubarak."

As has been the case every night for several weeks now,
thousands of pro-Morsi protesters are gathered at Cairo's Rabaa
al-Adawiya mosque, in the Nasr City neighbourhood, to demonstrate in
support of the deposed leader.
Many protesters are currently marching on Egypt's military intelligence headquarters to demand Morsi's release. Similar marches last night were turned away peacefully by police and security forces. {Al jazeera]
